Cryoablation steerable sheaths

FlexCath Advance™ steerable sheath

Cryoablation steerable sheaths

FlexCath Advance™ steerable sheath

The FlexCath Advance™ steerable sheath is used to position an ablation catheter during atrial fibrillation procedures.

Description

The FlexCath Advance™ percutaneous catheter introducer is fitted with a valve to allow for introduction, withdrawal, and swapping of catheters and wires while preventing air ingress and minimizing blood loss.

This sheath is part of the Arctic Front™ cardiac cryoablation catheter. It is the only sheath that has been tested for use with the Arctic Front™ family of cardiac cryoablation catheters. It can also be used with the Freezor™ Max cardiac cryoablation catheter, which may be used as an adjunctive device in the endocardial treatment of paroxysmal and persistent atrial fibrillation (episode duration less than six months) with the cryoballoon.

  • With mean-max sheath deflection of 162 degrees with the cryoballoon catheter inserted, the sheath may facilitate better access to inferior veins.
  • This percutaneous catheter introducer is fitted with a valve to allow for introduction, withdrawal, and exchanging of catheters and wires.
  • The sheath is packaged with a dilator.

Features

Using the FlexCath Advance™ steerable sheath

Once transseptal puncture has been performed using an indicated needle, the FlexCath Advance™ sheath can be used to cross into the left atrium once access is obtained. (The FlexCath Advance™ sheath is not indicated for transseptal puncture.) The cryoballoon is then inserted over a guidewire through the sheath to the left atrium where it can be inflated and positioned to efficiently isolate the pulmonary veins with minimal energy applications. Complex, three-dimensional mapping is not required.

  1. Marker band: nominal radiopaque marker 5.1 mm (0.200 in) proximal to sheath tip for visibility under fluoroscopy
  2. Dilator: packaged with a dilator; facilitating the introduction of the sheath into the vasculature
  3. Hemostasis valve: allows for introduction, withdrawal, and swapping of catheters and guidewires while preventing air ingress and minimizing blood loss
The FlexCath Advance™ steerable sheath is a unidirectional, deflectable sheath for use with the Arctic Front™ cardiac cryoablation catheter system.
