Tracheostomy tubes

Shiley™ flexible evac tracheostomy tube with TaperGuard™ cuff technology

The Shiley™ flexible evac tracheostomy tube features an integrated suction port and lumen for removal of secretions from the subglottic space.

Features

The integrated suction port and lumen featured on Shiley™ flexible evac tracheostomy tubes are positioned close to the cuff and designed to remove any fluid in the subglottic space that is difficult to suction otherwise. Additional product features include:

Thermosensitive transparent outer cannula

 • Thinner, less bulky cuff reduces insertion force by 40% in simulated models2
 • Beveled tip on all product configurations eases percutaneous insertion3
 • Smooth, continuous curvature enables proper positioning
 • Sizing — ID, OD, length, and tube curvature — is comparable to that of earlier Shiley™ products
 • Made of non-DEHP material

TaperGuard™ low pressure, low volume cuff

 • Reduces fluid leakage by 99% compared to legacy Shiley™ tracheostomy products1
 • Low pressure, low volume design applies less lateral wall pressure on trachea in benchtop study4
 • Thinner material enables more even distribution of wall pressure4

May reduce the risk of irritation and skin breakdown

 • Soft, transparent flange material is designed to conform to the patient’s anatomy and may help reduce the risk of skin breakdown5
 • Custom designed flange openings improve airflow to sensitive skin, and are offset to help reduce contact with the patient’s skin

 1. Based on internal benchtop testing report 10122514. Results reflect the Shiley™ flexible adult tracheostomy tube with TaperGuard™ cuff, disposable inner cannula tubes ability to titrate/control ventilator air leak in comparison to the Shiley™ tracheostomy tube cuffed with disposable inner cannula (DCT).

 1. Based on internal benchtop testing report RE00127642 rev A. Results reflect testing the Shiley™ flexible adult tracheostomy tube with TaperGuard™ cuff, disposable inner cannula versus the Shiley™ DCT tracheostomy tube with disposable inner cannula at the same cuff pressure of 25 cmH2O.
