Specific subpopulations of HVAD pumps (defined as subgroups 1, 2, and 3) may experience a higher rate of delay or failure to restart than the overall population of HVAD pumps. It is important to note that this issue does not cause a running HVAD pump to stop; rather, the pump may fail to restart after a pump stop event, such as a controller exchange. It is critical to avoid pump stops to ensure continuous blood flow to the patient’s body and avoid complications.

To verify if an HVAD patient is in one of the identified subgroups, enter the patient’s HVAD pump ID into the Serial Number Lookup Tool below and click Search.
