Geoff Martha is Chairman and CEO of Medtronic, a global leader in healthcare innovation. Founded in 1949, Medtronic uses technology to improve human welfare by alleviating pain, restoring health and extending life. Under his leadership, 95,000 employees deliver transformative medical innovations for over 70 conditions in the human body, reaching more than 78 million patients annually – that’s two patients every second, every day.


Since becoming CEO in 2020, Geoff has been recognized as a driven and innovative executive, including as a top CEO in healthcare technology by the Healthcare Technology Report and as one of Modern Healthcare’s most influential people in healthcare. He joined Medtronic in 2011 to lead Strategy and Business Development, and in 2015, spearheaded the $43 billion acquisition of Covidien, nearly doubling Medtronic’s size in the largest transaction in the medical technology industry. He also served as EVP and Group President of the Restorative Therapies Group, overseeing a portfolio of businesses across Brain Therapies, Pain Therapies, Specialty Therapies and Spine. Before joining Medtronic, Geoff spent nearly two decades at GE Healthcare and GE Capital in roles spanning business development, strategic marketing, and sales management.

Geoff is deeply committed to advancing healthcare and technology and uses that passion to build strong partnerships across industries. He actively participates in several global business organizations, including the Business Roundtable, the World Economic Forum’s International Business Council, and the U.S.-China Business Council. He serves as a Trustee for the Asia Society and sits on the board of NextEra Energy. He also serves as Treasurer of AdvaMed and Chairman of the Minnesota Business Partnership. In addition to his corporate roles, he supports non-profits as a board member for the Medtronic Foundation, the Northside Achievement Zone (NAZ), and YMCA of the North.

Geoff holds a finance degree from Penn State University, where he is a member of the Hockey Hall of Fame and serves on the College of Liberal Arts Development Council.
