InterStim™ Verify™ enhanced evaluation system

The Verify™ enhanced evaluation system tests a patient’s eligibility for long-term sacral neuromodulation for bladder or bowel control symptoms.

Description

The Verify™ enhanced evaluation system allows you to complete a short-term evaluation to assess your patient’s response to sacral neuromodulation. A basic evaluation takes three to seven days; an advanced evaluation takes two weeks or less.

The Verify™ system includes a simple, wireless touch-screen controller and a small, concealable external neurostimulator (ENS) device. This system helps identify the best candidates for long-term sacral neuromodulation.

Features

Efficient patient management

With the Verify™ evaluation system, you can:

  • Efficiently manage the evaluation. The controller includes a usage log that allows you to review the operation of the ENS and match it against the patient’s diary of daily bladder or bowel episodes.
  • Rely on the system to identify technical issues. The controller provides troubleshooting information that can detect issues such as accidental shutoffs.
  • Simplify your patient’s experience. The Verify™ system is intended to decrease office visits and patient calls due to the simplicity of the controller, which gives your patients the confidence to operate the evaluation device easily and properly.
  • Receive support. Medtronic works closely with you to provide guidance in all phases of therapy, including the evaluation. Medtronic also provides a diary that your patients can use to record their daily bladder or bowel episodes before and during the evaluation to help determine if they are experiencing adequate symptom control.

Freedom during evaluation

For the benefit of your patients, the Verify™ evaluation system is:

  • Discreet. The ENS weighs less than two ounces, is worn on a belt, and is easy to conceal under clothing. Leads are hidden under bandaging.
  • Unobtrusive. Your patients can perform many normal daily activities while undergoing an evaluation.
  • With the wireless controller, your patients are free to move without worrying about inadvertently hitting dials or switches.
  • Simple to use. Using the controller, your patients can start and stop therapy, change programs during an advanced evaluation, switch the active lead during a basic evaluation, and make other adjustments quickly and easily during either evaluation.
  • Secure. The ENS responds only to your patient’s wireless controller.
  • Minimally invasive and reversible. The procedure is initiated either in your office or in a hospital or surgical center. Therapeutic effects of the evaluation are reversible once the lead is removed or the ENS is shut off.

Valuable insights

  • Assess the potential for long-lasting control. The short-term evaluation shows whether your patients have responded positively to therapeutic stimulation of the sacral nerve.
  • Choose from two evaluation options. The basic evaluation lasts for three to seven days and is initiated through a simple in-office procedure. The advanced evaluation lasts for up to 14 days and is initiated through an outpatient procedure performed in a hospital or surgical center. Both procedures are safe and minimally invasive.
  • Access precise information at your fingertips. The new wireless touch-screen controller has a usage log and other features to help keep you informed about the evaluation.
  • Personalize your patient’s evaluation. Up to three programs can be stored in the controller for an advanced evaluation, giving you the versatility to assess multiple therapeutic settings for each patient.

Complications can occur with the evaluation, including movement of the wire, technical problems with the device, and some temporary pain. Patients should be instructed on operating the test device and given other precautions related to the evaluation as well as activity restrictions.
