A device made by a competitor is designed to determine regional hemoglobin oxygen saturation of blood underneath the sensor, according to the manufacturer. Its performance and accuracy of the device can be degraded or impacted if the patient’s CO2 levels are non-normocapnic (non-normal) or if there are other conditions that affect blood volume.2
