This option may be best if you:
This monitor has the option to set up Wifi to ensure you have a more robust connection for sending transmissions and for receiving software and security updates.
The MyCareLink Relay™ Home Communicator will automatically default to a cellular connection if you do not use Wi-Fi or if your Wi-Fi stops working. Setting up Wi-Fi is not required.

The communicator can use cellular or Wi-Fi connection. Short press of the button will cause the status icon to display if MCL Relay is connected via Wi-Fi or cellular network.
The patient or caregiver uses a PC or a mobile device to complete the setup — following instructions on the Quick Start Guide or MCLRelay.com.
If the clinic has enrolled the patient in CareLink, then when the MCL Relay is powered up, has connectivity, and is near the patient’s implantable device, a transmission will be sent to the device clinic.
The light ring will spin for up to 15 minutes and then turn solid green. The MCL Relay is not communicating with the patient’s device. A long press will show a busy error. Relay will be checking CareLink every 6 hours for commands. Upon patient getting pre-enrolled or enrolled in the CareLink network, there will be at most a 6-hour delay before MCL Relay receives commands to communicate with the implant. Then, once patient is within range of MCL Relay, the initial setup and transmission will be completed.
If the patient sees a green light ring on the face of the communicator, it is working. If the patient turns off the lights in the room or the room is dark, the light sensor turns off the lights on the communicator. The communicator is still working.
If the patient long-presses the button and the bottom of the light ring flashes 3 times with a tone playing, the communicator is busy. Wait and try again later.
The communicator wirelessly connects with your device and transmits according to the schedule set by your doctor. For more information on your transmission schedule, contact your clinic.
For optimal performance, the communicator should be within 3 m (10 feet) of the place the patient sleeps. It should not be placed under a bed.
The communicator needs power to work. However, losing power does not affect the patient’s implanted medical device or the implanted device data. When power is restored, the communicator will resume operating.
It depends on the length of time the patient will be away. The patient’s doctor may recommend taking the communicator with them, even if it’s only for a short period of time. If the patient plans on taking a long holiday, they should take the communicator with them. It is safe to take it in both carry-on and checked luggage. Cellular will only work if the patient stays within the same region as their home.
