About the MyCareLink Heart™ App

Patients with Medtronic heart devices that have Bluetooth® wireless telemetry can download this app for free and use it for remote monitoring. The app can be used to automatically send heart device information to the clinic. Cellular and Wi-Fi availability applies. To get started, contact your doctor to confirm your enrollment in the Medtronic CareLink™ network.

COMPATIBLE SMART PHONES AND TABLETS

The MyCareLink Heart™ app has requirements for your phone or tablet and operating system (called the “OS” from now on) version. The app cannot transfer data between the heart device and the Medtronic CareLink™ network if the requirements are not met. The requirements for your phone or tablet and OS version will change over time. You may need to update, or replace, your phone or tablet and OS to use the app to transfer data between the heart device and the Medtronic CareLink™ network. Talk with your heart doctor for more monitoring options as needed.

The phones and tablets in this list were compatible with the app when they were tested by Medtronic. Phone and tablet models vary due to how they are manufactured. Medtronic cannot guarantee that all model variations of the phones and tablets in this list are compatible with the app. Also, some phone and tablet models may require a specific OS version to use the app.

Check the Compatible Phone and Tablet Models list if your phone or tablet cannot download the app or before you buy a phone or tablet to use with the app.

MCL Heart App Education

  • The app will automatically send scheduled and alert transmissions.
  • Keep app open in the background of your phone at all times and keep it close to your heart device at least 1 metre close for at least 3 hours throughout the day.
  • Ensure Bluetooth remains ON and that you are connected to cellular or Wi-Fi.
  • We recommend background app refresh is ON through your phone settings and do not use airplane/flight mode as it will affect the app’s function. If you are required to use airplane/flight mode due to being on a aircraft the app will reconnect once flight mode is turning off and cellular connection is re-established.  
  • The app enables you to automatically receive messages to help you stay connected and transmit on time. You can receive these via email, text and app notifications. Medtronic recommends that you choose all three options to ensure that you receive communications from your clinic.
  • It is important that you do not send a manual transmission unless requested by Medtronic or your doctor.
  • Medtronic cannot assist with any billing or medical enquiries.
  • The app is not an emergency tool. If you are feeling unwell, please contact your follow-up physician. If it is urgent, please call 000 or go straight to hospital.

Will my cardiac implanted device interact with other Bluetooth® devices? For example, will it interact with the Bluetooth in my car?

Your cardiac implanted device has Bluetooth Low Energy while cars typically use Bluetooth Classic. Cars will not attempt to establish a connection with your cardiac implanted device and your cardiac implanted device will not be able to detect Bluetooth Classic transmissions.

Will the MyCareLink Heart mobile app drain my phone battery?
