The MyCareLink Heart™ app has requirements for your phone or tablet and operating system (called the “OS” from now on) version. The app cannot transfer data between the heart device and the Medtronic CareLink™ network if the requirements are not met. The requirements for your phone or tablet and OS version will change over time. You may need to update, or replace, your phone or tablet and OS to use the app to transfer data between the heart device and the Medtronic CareLink™ network. Talk with your heart doctor for more monitoring options as needed.

Your cardiac implanted device has Bluetooth Low Energy while cars typically use Bluetooth Classic. Cars will not attempt to establish a connection with your cardiac implanted device and your cardiac implanted device will not be able to detect Bluetooth Classic transmissions.
If you normally have Bluetooth turned on, you should not experience any change in battery life. If you do not normally keep Bluetooth turned on, you may notice a decrease in the battery life of your smartphone*† or tablet*† while using the app.
The app consumes 8.7 MB/month. This is equivalent to about 35 minutes of web surfing per month or 0.4% of a monthly data plan (assuming a 2 GB/month plan). The app consumes data for three reasons: (1) remote monitoring, (2) when patients review data on the app, and (3) diagnostic logging (to ensure app performance). It takes about 200 KB to send one remote transmission which is equivalent to about 10 emails with no attachments.
Just like other apps, if your smartphone*† or tablet*† has Wi-Fi or cellular connection, the data on the app will be available for a viewer to see. It is recommended that you protect your smartphone*† or tablet*† with a PIN code, swipe gesture, or fingerprint.
This is not recommended because the smartphone*† or tablet*† needs to be within arm's reach 1 metre of you for at least 3 hours a day to send transmissions to your clinic.
Yes, you can use the app on multiple smartphones*† or tablets*†. Before using a second smartphone*† or tablet*†, you will need to have paired your first smartphone*† or tablet*†. You can then use your username and password to log in on your second smartphone*† or tablet*†.
Yes, you can use the app on a tablet. Remember, you must be able to keep your smartphone*† or tablet*† within 1 metre of your cardiac implanted device for a minimum of 3 consecutive hours per day to send transmissions to your clinic.
*Cellular or Wi-Fi service availability is required.
† Your smartphone or tablet may not be compatible with the MyCareLink Heart™ mobile app at this time.
