Sales
Vanwege het internationale karakter van ons bedrijf en onze medewerkers hebben we hun verhalen en ervaringen in het Engels weergegeven.
Living in the Burgundian city of Breda, Barbra is a Sales Representative for our
Cardiac Rhythm & Heart Failure business in the southwestern region of our country. On a daily basis, Barbra is visiting the hospitals in the provinces of Noord-Brabant, Zeeland and the Rotterdam area. The products she is responsible for, are pacemakers, ICDs (implantable Cardioverter Defibrillators), CRT (Cardiac Resynchronization Therapy) devices and implantable heart monitors (ILRs = Implantable Loop Recorders).
My job is very comprehensive; that’s the attractive part of my daily work. Several different activities allow me to reach the goals that I have and eventually want to achieve. Next to that, I am studying a lot to deepen my knowledge about the function of the heart, its anatomical features and the operation of my products. The innovation in this field is going so fast, I must keep up to date constantly.
I combine the educational part of my job with building relationships with my customers when I am present at the operating procedures. Besides that, it’s important to respond to the needs of our customers, for example by providing trainings on all aspects which our products can offer to them.
Before I joined Medtronic, I had a sales position at a different medical device company, where I was also responsible for the mentoring and coaching of new colleagues who just started in their sales positions. Besides that, I was an active member of the works council for almost five years.
The most challenging, and at the same time the most important aspect of my current role is that I can contribute to human welfare. This is also reflected in the mission of Medtronic. I think it’s important to carry out our mission: “to alleviate pain, restore health and extend life”.
The good things about my job are that I learn new things every day, for example by means of studying, attending surgical procedures with our technical consultants or when my team members are helping me. My job will never be boring!
I like the good vibes and atmosphere within the company, both the ambience at the office in Eindhoven as well as the team spirit. Everybody is willing to help one another, which is the reflection of a very experienced and mature culture in the company. Also, the opportunity which Medtronic gives me to develop myself within the company. And what I mean with that is: you get the space, freedom and responsibility to carry out a project by yourself, of course with the help of your colleagues and the team. This really accelerates the development of my own competences and skills.
By being committed to provide the highest quality of the products which Medtronic offers, I am contributing to alleviating the pain, restoring the health and extending the lives of all patients. ‘Further, Together’ means that together with my colleagues – within my own team as well cross-business – I can achieve more and in a faster way.
Up to now, my most memorable experience was the way people welcomed me to Medtronic. Everybody gave me a warm welcome and a helping hand, always willing to help. This is definitely not standard practice in all companies. It was the best start I could have wished for!
