If you have an Activa™ RC neurostimulator, you must check the battery daily and charge the battery regularly.
The key to recharging is to set up a schedule that's easy to remember and fits your routine. Some people choose to recharge every day for about 30 minutes, others recharge every 10 to 14 days for about four hours. Ask your doctor about how often you should charge your neurostimulator battery based on your therapy settings.
Frequent recharging doesn’t harm the battery or its performance, unlike batteries in some electronic devices.
Use your patient programmer to check your battery level every day so that your therapy doesn't stop. The time before your battery gets low depends on the level of stimulation you are receiving. No matter your recharging schedule or your stimulation settings, your device will last for 15 years before it needs to be replaced.
You can attach the recharging system comfortably over your shoulder and around your waist, so you can use it hands free. The system has the following parts:
This video will help you learn how to use the recharging system with your Activa™ RC neurostimulator for deep brain stimulation. Topics include charging your neurostimulator battery, charging your recharger battery, and identifying recharger screens.
