Your Healthcare Team

Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD)

You’ll work with a variety of healthcare professionals as you pursue Reclaim® DBS Therapy for OCD.

This team will likely include:

  • A psychiatrist
  • A neurosurgeon experienced with DBS who will perform the procedure to implant the Reclaim™ DBS System.
  • A clinician who will program the stimulation levels to give you the best possible symptom control

Part of the healthcare team’s job is to make sure you’re comfortable and satisfied with your treatment. Always ask for clarification if there’s something you don’t understand. Also, make sure to communicate any concerns you may have regarding the procedure or follow-up treatment.

Remember: You’ll get the best results from your treatment by actively participating in discussions with the members of your healthcare team.

Indications: The Medtronic Reclaim™ DBS Therapy is indicated for bilateral stimulation of the anterior limb of the internal capsule, AIC, as an adjunct to medications and as an alternative to anterior capsulotomy for treatment of chronic, severe, treatment-resistant obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD) inadult patients who have failed at least three selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs).

Reclaim DBS Therapy for OCD is available in a very limited number of centres.  Only a specialised multidisciplinary group of physicians can determine whether this therapy is right for the patient.
