Regardless of how much Fahriye enjoys living in Istanbul, Turkey, she wanted to have the enriching experience of living in a different country to take on new and exciting challenges. Since the Netherlands had impressed her in so many ways, she chose to pursue her career here. With only nine months in her current role, and the first four months as a contractor, Fahriye is fairly new to Medtronic.
I work as a Customer Service Representative where I support the processes from the moment a customer’s order comes in, until the moment the products or therapies are delivered (Order to Deliver). I am responsible for several countries. I, therefore, work closely with local distributors, sales offices and various departments within Medtronic.
My daily work can be summarized as monitoring and managing the information flow to provide a better customer experience by getting to know the customer and exceed their expectations.
After I finished my bachelor’s degree in Istanbul and graduating as a Biomedical Engineer,
I have worked for several healthcare companies in Turkey. These were different roles in sales and marketing. Currently, besides working at Medtronic, I am also taking my master’s in Healthcare Management.
Being new in this role, one of the challenges for me was to adjust to the interdepartmental cohesion, since my position requires close collaboration with all the Medtronic businesses, as well as working across the globe. Medtronic is a highly complex organization and it takes a bit of time to get familiar with it.
I find the atmosphere and the fast-paced work dynamic of my job to be fulfilling. Additionally, being in a highly communicative role, I get the chance to be in contact with people all around the world, which I find exceptional.
I enjoy working at Medtronic, because it is an innovative company that helps people to improve the quality of their lives by providing healthcare professionals and patients with the most cutting-edge technologies in the market. This Medtronic approach encourages me to accomplish more and gives me the motivation and independence to learn new skills and improve myself.
Next to that, it is important for me to establish and maintain a strong relationship within Medtronic and with our customers, apply Medtronic values by working responsibly and ethically, and making sure to provide the finest quality of service and let’s not forget: always put the patient/customer first.

In January, I attended my first Patient Event, where all Medtronic employees come together and listen to different patient stories. I have to say: it was quite impressive!
