Information and FAQs for the Reveal LINQ™ Insertable Cardiac Monitoring System
You’ve had your Reveal LINQ ICM System for a few weeks or more. Now what?
Long-term heart monitoring is designed for use over a period of months or even up to three years. It may seem like nothing is happening, but you can feel confident that your health information is being tracked and made available to your doctor.
Here are some troubleshooting tips and answers to frequently asked questions:
Why haven’t I heard from my doctor?
Long-term heart monitoring is typically used in cases where symptoms are infrequent or a physician wants to monitor the long-term effects of treatment. Therefore, it may take a while for enough information to be available. Every situation is unique but the Reveal LINQ System is designed to monitor your heart for up to 3 years.1
How can I be sure my heart information has been sent to my doctor?
If the MyCareLink™ Monitor screen is dark, press the gray button just once to view the start-up screen. The date shown is the day of your last successful transmission. Occasionally, a day may be missed if, for example, you walked away from bed during a regularly scheduled automatic transmission. Don’t worry, the system will try to send that data again for up to 14 days. If it’s been several days since your last transmission, take another look at your setup guidelines to make sure it’s set up as described.
Why is it important to leave my MyCareLink monitor plugged in at all times?
The MyCareLink Monitor works automatically to send your heart data and to make software updates. Make sure you keep it plugged in so nothing is missed.
What do I do if the MyCareLink Monitor lights up?
You don’t need to do anything. Your monitor is checking for software updates and will cycle through them on its own.
Can I get an MRI?
Yes you can. The Reveal LINQ ICM doesn’t pose any known hazards in specific MRI settings when they’re performed as directed. Provide your device identification card to your imaging technician so he or she can access more information.
Your Reveal LINQ ICM System was designed for portability. When you travel or fly, simply follow these simple steps:
Pack your MyCareLink Monitor.
Small and lightweight, the setup, operation, and global cellular access make the MyCareLink Monitor convenient to use wherever you go. The monitor must always be plugged in and in a location that receives an adequate cellular signal. It should easily pass through airport security checkpoints.

Make security screening easy.
To minimize the risk of temporary interference, avoid touching metal surfaces around any screening equipment and simply walk through the archway at a normal pace. If a hand-held wand is used, ask the security operator not to hold it over your implanted heart device.
Take your Device ID Card with you.
If you have concerns about security screening methods, show your device ID card, request alternative screening, and then follow the instructions of the security personnel. This card can also be used if you are questioned by airport security about your MyCareLink Monitor.
If you received a Patient Assistant, carry it with you at all times so you can use it to mark symptoms such as dizziness, fainting or palpitations. Data is marked in your Reveal LINQ ICM and sent to your doctor during your next automatic transmission.
To Use the Patient Assistant:
Hopefully the Reveal LINQ ICM System has become a worry-free part of your routine. But, just in case, we want to provide answers to questions that may arise:
Do I need wireless internet access or a cellular data plan?
No, the MyCareLink Monitor has built-in wireless technology to connect to global satellite signals that transmit the data to your doctor. There is no cost to you for data transmission.
What if my screen displays an error message with the cellular signal bars?
This may mean your monitor is not receiving an adequate cellular signal. You can try a couple adjustments:
What about an error screen with a phone icon and the Medtronic logo?
This is a system error. It does not mean that there is a problem with the Reveal LINQ ICM. Restart the monitor by unplugging it, and plugging it back in again. If restarting your monitor does not work, contact Medtronic.
What if I can’t get to my Patient Assistant right away?
If you can’t get to it within 5 minutes or so, just write down the date and time of your symptoms and share this with your doctor during your next visit.
I used my Patient Assistant. How can I be sure my clinic got the information?
The Patient Assistant is only used to mark symptoms in the Reveal LINQ ICM. The information is then sent by your MyCareLink Monitor during your next automatic transmission. Your doctor may also ask you to send a manual transmission.
How do I get the information off of the Patient Assistant?
You don’t need to. The information is stored in the Reveal LINQ ICM, not the Patient Assistant. It will be sent during your next automatic transmission.
Refer to the Reveal LINQ ICM Clinician Manual for usage parameters.
