YOUR DBS RESOURCES AND SUPPORT DBS THERAPY FOR PARKINSON’S DISEASE

CHOOSE HOW YOU WANT TO LEARN ABOUT DBS

We are here to help you get the information you need to make a confident decision about DBS.

Support Link℠ connects you to people who already have DBS, specialised nurses, and other educational resources.

Support Link℠ makes it easy to get answers to your questions about deep brain stimulation. You can choose to talk with someone on the phone, watch videos from experts, prepare yourself to discuss DBS with your doctor, and much more.

TALK WITH SOMEONE WHO HAS DBS

You can talk one-on-one with someone who already has DBS for Parkinson’s. Ask the questions that only people living with DBS therapy can answer, such as:

  • What’s the DBS surgery like?
  • What does stimulation feel like?
  • Why did you choose DBS therapy?
  • How has your life changed?

The volunteers in this programme are not Medtronic employees, and they do not offer medical advice or technical support. You can view profiles and choose the person you want to talk to. To schedule your call with someone living with DBS, select the button below.

Be More Empowered Like Mathew, DBS Ambassador

“I would recommend it, it was good for me. Might not be good for everybody, but certainly for me, it worked. I would like to be able to share my joy and give people the opportunity to at least have the choice whether they want to make a positive change in their lives.”

FIND A PARKINSON’S SPECIALIST IN THE UK WHO CAN ANSWER YOUR QUESTIONS ON DBS

Not getting the symptom relief you need from your medications? Don’t wait—talk to a specialist right away. DBS therapy may be right for you.

Does your doctor have the information about DBS therapy you need? If not, ask for a referral to a neurologist who specialises in movement disorders like Parkinson’s. And don’t forget, you’ll need to have your medical records and test results sent to the specialist before your appointment.

Results may vary from patient to patient. Not everyone who receives Medtronic DBS therapy will experience the same results. Some people may experience significant symptom relief from DBS therapy, and others may experience minimal relief.

Talk to your doctor to see if Medtronic DBS therapy is right for you. For further information, please consult your healthcare professional who can explain the benefits and risks and important safety information.
