Frequently Asked Questions

  • Can patients wear jewelry during surgery?
The presence of jewelry creates a variety of risk factors. Patient safety is of utmost importance and many device manufacturers, together with AORN and ECRI, we advocate for the removal of jewelry as a general practice.
  • What to do when energy platform is on and instrument is activated, but system does not deliver output?
  • What to do when energy platform does not respond when turned on?
  • What to do when there is abnormal muscle stimulation on patient?
  • What energy instruments are compatible with the ForceTriad™ energy platform?
The ForceTriad™ energy platform is compatible with conventional monopolar electrosurgical instruments and pads, bipolar instruments, as well as all current and new LigaSure™ instruments.
  • Why is my new LigaSure™ device not working when plugged into the ForceTriad™?
New LigaSure™ device features often require a software upgrade on the ForceTriad. Please contact your rep and/or your biomed. You may need to use a different LigaSure™ device or a generator with updated software in this procedure.
  • Why does Medtronic recommend lower power settings?
Instant Response™ technology provides surgeons with improved performance at lower power settings, minimizing the risk of tissue damage and neuromuscular stimulation, and decreasing the need to “turn up the generator.” Lower voltage means less neuromuscular stimulation and more precise delivery of energy to reduce collateral damage.
