While we understand you may be seeking more ways to leverage PillCam™ CE platform during these unique circumstances, it’s important to recognize the technical differences, targeted anatomy, and intended uses of each capsule.
Please refer to the following chart for instructions3 to clean PillCam™ equipment after each patient use:
COMPONENT |
CLEANING INSTRUCTIONS |
Pillcam™ sensor belt |
Wipe down all surfaces with alcohol (70% isopropyl or ethyl alcohol), making sure that all surfaces are exposed to alcohol for at least 1 minute. |
Pillcam™ sensor array |
Wipe the sensors gently with alcohol wipes (up to 70%). The alcohol will not remove the adhesive. Use alcohol sparingly and allow the sensor array to dry for 20 minutes. To remove adhesive from the sensor array (not from the human body), use white benzene Note: Use white benzene only in a well-ventilated area according to all precautions and instructions on the label. |
Pillcam™ data recorder & cradle |
Wipe down all surfaces with alcohol wipes (up to 70%). |
Pillcam™ data recorder pouch |
Wipe down all surfaces with alcohol (70% isopropyl or ethyl alcohol), making sure that all surfaces are exposed to alcohol for at least 1 minute. |
Note: The suggested product cleaning instructions above follow standard methods for cleaning medical equipment and have not been validated for effectiveness against the COVID-19 virus. To clean the PillCam™ equipment surfaces, we recommend using alcohol wipes (up to 70%). Usage of other classes of disinfectants (Aldehydes, Oxidizing Agents, Quaternary Ammonium, Chlorine compounds, lodophor, Phenolic compounds) may stain or damage the materials.
