Combining the benefits of pressure and volume ventilation using Volume Control Plus and Volume Support breath types, the ventilator adjusts pressure up or down to target a preset tidal volume.
The Puritan Bennett™ Volume Ventilation Plus software option combines the benefits of pressure and volume ventilation using Volume Control Plus and Volume Support modes.
In Volume Control Plus, clinicians set the inspiratory time and desired tidal volume. In Volume Support, clinicians set the desired tidal volume. The ventilator then adjusts pressure up or down to target a preset tidal volume.
Puritan Bennett™ Volume Ventilation Plus software combines the advantages of a preset volume target with the ease of pressure control ventilation. The Volume Ventilation Plus software option allows clinicians simply to set the inspiratory time (Volume Control Plus or VC+ only) and desired tidal volume—the ventilator takes care of the pressure.
A pressure-based breath is delivered, and the Volume Ventilation Plus software option continuously increases or decreases pressure from breath to breath, targeting a preset volume to be delivered to the patient.
The active exhalation valve allows unrestricted exhalation during both inspiratory and expiratory phases of the breath cycle.
Medtronic announced that it has decided to keep the Patient Monitoring and Respiratory Intervention businesses as a part of Medtronic, given changing market conditions. These businesses will get increased investment and be combined and called Acute Care & Monitoring (ACM).
Medtronic also made the decision to exit the ventilator product line.
Amid evolving market conditions and a shift to lower acuity ventilators, this decision aligns with Medtronic’s strategy to concentrate resources on our market-leading positions and accelerate innovation-driven growth.
While this decision will take time and planning, we are committed to supporting our existing ventilation customers. We will continue to provide service and support throughout the ventilator life cycle, along with meeting our service contract obligations.
