HOW TO USE THE PATIENT PROGRAMMER

Patients who have had DBS implanted will use the patient programmer to turn the therapy on or off and check the battery. The patient may also be able to adjust the stimulation within options programmed by the doctor.

INSTRUCTION AND HELP

  • The clinician or nurse will demonstrate how to use the programmer. Call the clinic if there are more questions or help is required.
  • A manual will be provided with detailed instructions.

GETTING STARTED

  • Start by learning the basic operation of the programmer.
  • Know what to do when there is a warning or alert.
  • Over time, learn more features of the programmer.
  • Always keep the programmer with you.

PATIENT PROGRAMMER GUIDES

The programmer manual has information about use, maintenance, and troubleshooting. With the Activa™ neurostimulator, there will also be an illustrated quick guide.
