Video Laryngoscopy

This activity is designed for Anesthesiologists, Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists, Emergency Physicians, Paramedics, Emergency Medical Technicians, and other extended healthcare providers who are at the forefront of assessing and caring for patients who require airway management.

Activity Objectives

Upon completion of this activity, participant should be able to:

• Define the difficult airway and list contributing factors
• Describe the frequency of unanticipated difficult airway incidence
• Describe the evidence that demonstrates a reduced rate of difficult and failed intubations through use of video laryngoscopy
• Discuss the advantages of video laryngoscopy being the primary method for intubation
• Describe examples where video laryngoscopy is more effective in laryngeal visualization compared to direct laryngoscopy
