Despite these facts, some individuals are denied access to treatment as some payers and employers do not recognize obesity as a disease.
From payer and employer partnerships and outreach, through collaboration with medical societies, Medtronic is committed to driving advocacy for bariatric surgery.

- Having greater efficacy when comparing surgical intervention vs medical management
- Combating severe co-morbid conditions.
- Employer outreach programs to facilitate access to obesity continuum of care.
- Payer relations related to medically supervised dietary program restrictions prior to surgery or the appeal process.
