DEVICES USED

Two 3mm MVP devices

Two 4mm Concerto coils

Left inferior epigastric artery

The patient was initially treated with detachable coils. As blood pressure improved, spasm resolved and vessels dilated, resulting in blood flow through the coil pack.

The additional room resulting from dilation, allowed the physician to cross the catheter beyond the coil pack and deliver two 3mm MVP devices into the branches of the inferior epigastric artery.

58-year-old female with left lower extremity pain and swelling one day prior, seen in ER, negative lower extremity doppler, sent home.

Acute onset ‘popping’ left lower abdomen followed by Pulseless Electrical Activity (PEA) arrest at home.

Resuscitated by the emergency medical service then repeated PEA arrest in ER. CTA showed large abd/rectus sheath hematoma, hgb 4.
