About Baclofen Pumps

About Intrathecal Baclofen Therapy

Using a baclofen pump may help you to move and walk more easily, loosen overly tight muscles, and minimise spasticity-related pain. The surgically implanted pump continuously delivers medication to your spinal cord fluid.

What Is It?

A baclofen pump (ITB Therapy) is a precise, targeted therapy used to reduce severe spasticity caused by cerebral palsy. It uses a programmable, battery-powered medical device that stores and delivers a prescription medication called baclofen. The device is surgically implanted in the abdomen and a thin, flexible silicone tube called a catheter is inserted near the spine and connected to the pump.
