Adjustable Pressure Valve
StrataTM NSC™ Adjustable Pressure Valve provides innovative technology for the treatment of hydrocephalus.
The PS MedicalTM StrataTM NSC™ Adjustable Pressure Valve is designed to provide continued cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) flow from the ventricles of the brain into the right atrium of the heart or the peritoneal cavity. The Strata NSC Valve allows the physician to non-invasively adjust its pressure/flow performance level setting by using a special magnetic adjustment tool without the need for X-ray confirmation to address changing patient needs.
The StrataTM NSC™ Adjustable Pressure Shunt is a combination of the Strata NSC Adjustable Pressure Valve, a proximal (ventricular) catheter, and distal (peritoneal or atrial) catheter. The Strata NSC Shunt diverts excess cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) from the ventricles of the brain to another area of the body – usually the peritoneal cavity or right atrium of the heart.
The Strata NSC Adjustable Pressure Valve uses a patented technology that utilizes a magnetic rotor to adjust the tension on a ball-and-spring valve mechanism, allowing for 5 separate pressure/flow performance level settings. The pressure/flow performance level setting can be changed non-invasively by using one of the Strata Adjustment Systems.
In addition to the risks associated with any surgical procedure, such as bleeding, damage to surrounding brain tissue, seizures, stroke, or death, the following complications may also occur: obstruction of the system, infection, and mechanical malfunction leading to overdrainage. At times the common complications can provide serious risks and should be treated promptly as such.
It is important to review the Instructions for Use for complete safety information, potential complications, contraindications, and a complete explanation of warnings and precautions.
