Asymmetrical Design Advantage

Compared to a symmetrical lead design, offsetting the coil and cable offers several advantages¹:

Promotes reduced tip pressure and lead body
Allows for greater insulation thickness between conductors to help reduce the risk of insulation failure
Facilitates increased lead strength allowing room for 2 cables (1 cable for the 6935(M)) with a 7x7 configuration (1x19 for 6944)
Designed to reduce stresses on the conductors in a crush situation allowing for individual compression lumens to help reduce the risk of failure

Insulation

All silicone is not the same.
Many types of silicone were tested and one high performance silicone was purposefully selected for the demands of the Quattro ICD leads in vivo. Medtronic conducts secondary processing on this silicone via a proprietary method to enhance resistance to in vivo challenges such as creep (conductor externalization), abrasion, and axial compression (crush).

True Bipolar Advantage

Medtronic’s Sprint Quattro leads have true bipolar sensing, which compared to integrated bipolar may:

Create a smaller antenna, by sensing between the lead tip and the ring electrode, which may reduce oversensing^1,2

Only Medtronic Devices have programmable sensing, allowing you to program true or integrated bipolar with any true bipolar lead, to provide more options.

Implant Geometry Test Approximately 15% of patients have an implant that gives an opportunity for meaningful connector challenge. This test was delivered from real clinical use conditions.
Lead Orientation and Amplitude Curvature Test Finite Element Analysis simulates worst-case curvature amplitude and lead orientation.
High Activity Levels Test To simulate worst-case levels of activity, 2.5 million cycles, which is equivalent to one arm raise each minute every day for 10 years, were completed.
